jobin. MOBILE exhibition
2023.11.17(Fri) - 11.26(Sun)
As the days of hunching our shoulders in cold weather increase, autumn is drawing to an end.
"I'm going to stay home today and relax." You may be finding yourself thinking this more and more.
What do you think of to make your time at home more meaningful? A soothing scent, a relaxing sofa, a bold new home appliance, etc., are all things that come to mind, but today we would like to inform you of an exhibition and sale of wire and mobile art that will be visually enjoyable and soothing to the soul. The event will be held at Nine Tailor shop from November 17th (Friday) to November 26th (Sunday).
When you hear the word "wire," it's hard to imagine the full scope of art, and you may wonder, "What is a mobile?" However, when you see it, you'll be surprised. It's a fusion of wire and mobile that is so delicate that you can't help but exclaim in surprise. I would like to introduce it to you slowly from now on.
The piece was created by the sculptor jobin.
Previously, he mainly made mobiles(※) out of paper, but he gradually became interested in the changing shadows of the mobiles, and wanted to express the shadows in more detail. From there, he began to make wire works that could be hung on the wall or placed on the floor, taking into account the indoor environment, rather than just hanging them from the ceiling.
(*A mobile is a three-dimensional piece of artwork that is usually hung from the ceiling and moves with the air current.)
Surprisingly, jobin. is not very good at hand-drawn sketches, but he thought he might be able to draw three-dimensional objects, and so he decided to use thin black wire that resembled pencil lines.
What surprised me was the production process. Basically, there are no drafts, and for the concrete motifs, he looks at a few images and immediately starts bending the wire. The boldness hidden within the delicate works, the coexistence of two opposing elements, may be one of the highlights.
Jobin. usually creates many artworks, such as animals, plants, and things related to daily life, but this time, we have information that he will also be creating hats. We hope you will look forward to it.
"I hope you can have a little time to relax. I would be happy if you could come," said jobin. in the message. He will be in the gallery for six days during the exhibition period. Please enjoy the unique world of wire and mobiles created by jobin.
