Scandinavian Keramik pop up event
2023.9.22(Fri) – 10.1(Sun)
What do you do when you're at home?
Television, social media, YouTube... Nowadays, we are overwhelmed with information, but are you spending your time in a way that is true to yourself?
Being surrounded by things you love that make you feel at ease, and spending time with close family, loved ones, and friends - these are things that Nordic people value.
Nine Tailor shop will be holding a pop-up event for Scandinavian Keramik, an online shop that introduces and sells Nordic lifestyle and vintage goods, for 10 days from Friday, September 22nd to Sunday, October 1st, 2023.
The natural environment has a big influence on the relaxed lifestyle of the Nordic countries. Japan is one of the countries with four distinct seasons, so it may be difficult to imagine, but Nordic countries have many days with short hours of daylight throughout the year and long dark winters. Due to such a harsh environment, people inevitably spend a lot of time at home, and they cherish the time they spend at home, not only with their families but also by inviting close friends and colleagues to home parties. Of course, social status is not important here, and people face their own time and each other as individuals before they become someone else. From this environment, warm interiors, sophisticated furniture, and ways of spending time at home have developed as a culture along with the lifestyle.
Natsuyama, a buyer at Scandinavian Keramik, has traveled all over the world for work and currently lives in Copenhagen, Denmark.
For her, who has felt more than anyone else that "an airport represents a country," the impression she had when she first landed at Copenhagen Airport in Denmark was special. The more she learned about the city's atmosphere, architecture, working style, social welfare, and more, the more she was attracted to it.
She started living in Denmark because she loved it, but during the COVID-19 pandemic, she spent more time at home than ever before, which prompted her to reexamine how she spent her time at home. As she replaced the furniture and items she had bought haphazardly when she first moved there, she came across wonderful furniture and miscellaneous goods, which she became increasingly fascinated with, and she realized how good it felt to live surrounded by things she loved. She wanted to share that excitement and the Nordic lifestyle with as many people as possible, so she started this online shop.
When she lived in Tokyo, she was more interested in practicality and affordability than enjoying the time and space at home, but this gradually changed while living in Denmark. She values usability and wants things that are appealing and can be just displayed. Her thoughts on "things" and her desire to enjoy the space itself are reflected in the things she buys.
During the event, in addition to the items shown in the photos, we plan to sell a variety of Nordic vintage goods purchased by Natsuyama locally. Don't miss this opportunity to enjoy Nordic goods!
