KOMAKI KOHEI exhibition 2nd
KOMAKI KOHEI exhibition 2nd
2024.3.16(sat) – 3.24(sun)
Even though it was a warm winter, it snowed and was still cold. But signs of an end to this winter are finally in sight. The days are gradually getting warmer, and many people are looking forward to spring (even though they're scared of pollen).
Spring also marks the beginning of a new school year, and many people are changing their environment, or coming to a close at work or school and starting afresh. When you feel a bit rushed or restless, it's time to take a breather. It's important to take some time to relax and unwind. Nine Tailor shop has prepared some events that are perfect for spending this time, so we'd like to introduce them to you.
We will be holding the second glass exhibition and sales event by glassblower Komaki Kohei, which was held last fall and received a huge response!
The event will be held at Nine Tailor shop from Saturday, March 16th, 2024 to Sunday, March 24th, 2024.
Let me now introduce you to Mr. Komaki a little more.
He currently creates his works in a studio located 700 meters above sea level in the mountains of Yamanashi Prefecture. Glassblowing is a technique in which molten, high-temperature glass is wound around a stainless steel pipe, and then blown into it to inflate it like a balloon and solidify it. No two pieces are exactly the same, and each piece has a different expression. That's why the excitement of finding a piece that is one of a kind is indescribable.
In addition to the Pecori glass, which is Komaki's iconic piece and features a bowing design, this event will also feature a piece in colors that evoke the cherry blossoms of Meguro River. The pale, beautiful colors of the cherry blossoms are enchanting just to look at. We hope you will enjoy the unique pieces that are only available at this time of year.
"Once the cherry blossoms along the Meguro River bloom, I would like to create an exhibition that combines colors inspired by cherry blossoms with actual cherry blossoms. I look forward to seeing you on that day."
I also received the following message from Komaki-san:
Komaki-san will also be in the gallery on Saturday, March 16th, so please come and see his wonderful works and take this opportunity to talk to him about the behind-the-scenes stories of his work. Please take the time to actually hold the pieces in your hands and enjoy the warmth of glass and the worldview that only Komaki-san can create. All of our staff look forward to seeing you.
